Kyle Edmund set for week of hard training ahead of French Open

British tennis star Kyle Edmund won't be playing any tournaments next week as he will focus on hard practice sessions ahead of the French Open. 

The 24-year-old has had a disappointing clay-court campaign so far as he is on a five-match losing streak. ​

The Briton, ranked at No. 27 in the world, reached the Marrakech round-of-16 before he picked up five consecutive losses. 

Edmund's poor form continued at this week's Rome Masters where the Briton blew a 6-4 4-1 lead against Fernando Verdasco in his opener at the tournament. 

The 24-year-old has made four appearances at the lone clay-court Grand Slam tournament. 

Despite clay not being his best surface, the Briton has enjoyed fine campaigns at Roland Garros for the past few years. 

Edmund made back-to-back second rounds in his first two French Open campaigns before he made back-to-back third rounds at the tournament. 

It remains to be seen will getting back to basics help Edmund to regroup and put an end to his recent poor form at the upcoming Grand Slam event.
