ATP Atlanta - Entry List: John Isner seeks sixth title, Kyrgios won't play

The Atlanta Open opens the North American hard-court season in July. The tournament will not feature Nick Kyrgios, who retired from the last year's quarter-finals match against Cameron Norrie due to injury. John Isner will lead the field. The local player is set to make his return to competition at Wimbledon after being sidelined with a foot injury for three months. Isner will skip Newport and play in Atlanta seeking his sixth title there. Isner triumphed in 2018 and 2017 defeating his compatriot Ryan Harrison both times, and also in 2015, 2014 and 2013. Isner lost three finals, in 2016 to Kyrgios, and two against Mardy Fish. The 18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime will definitely be in the spotlight. The Canadian, who made his breakthrough on the ATP Tour earlier this year reaching the Rio Open final, will make his debut in Atlanta. Diego Schwartzman surprisingly chose to play on hard during this time of the year and not in Hamburg on clay. Alex de Minaur, Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz will be among the favorites.

Only one top 20 player headlines the Gstaad field, Roberto Bautista Agut. The Swiss event will not feature the 2017 winner Fabio Fognini who picked Hamburg. Bautista Agut, who won the Doha Open defeating Tomas Berdych in the final and beat Novak Djokovic in the Miami third round, will try to triumph here for the first time after losing the last year's final to Matteo Berrettini, who won there his maiden career-title. Guido Pella, who played well on clay this year losing a close match against Rafael Nadal in Monte Carlo, Dusan Lajovic and Fernando Verdasco are the players to watch.
