Neka Dorokashvili got married to the tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili in 2013. Then they became parents of a son and Basilashvili is going through some of the best seasons in his career. He has just won his third ATP 500 title in Hamburg last week and he may even crack the top ten rankings within the end of the year. In an interview, Neka commented on her relationship with Georgia's player: "Nikoloz Basilashvili and I got acquainted on the social media. We used to meet for around a year and a half and then got married. At the time Nikoloz was starting to achieve success in his career. I think I have contributed a little in his rise. I quit my career and got oriented only on my family. I used to accompany him at the tournaments. His success is mine as well. For a sportsman, the family is very important and one should not task them with everyday problems."
On how she dealt with motherhood, Neka concluded: "I have never hired a babysitter. My mother and other family members help me. I do household works alone as well, I cook and take care of the child. Our favourite dish is Borscht and hot Brown – I can cook them quite well. Now I am writing a book. I want to share my experience with others. Nikoloz and I watch films together, but lately, he prefers films about wars and I watch romantic and adventure dramas."
Basilashvili spoke about the fun side of tennis: "I think that the most interesting part is traveling. Traveling, in some ways, it’s good, in some ways, it’s difficult. Also, competing against oneself. Tennis is an individual sport and being able to compete against yourself, and not depending on somebody else. Oh, and lastly, being able to play every week, I have new opportunities to succeed. So, because of all this, I really like tennis."
