Injury forces Lucas Pouille to prematurely end his 2019 campaign

French tennis star Lucas Pouille, 25, has decided to end his 2019 season following the consultations with his doctor. 

World No. 19 Pouille last played at the Shanghai Masters, where he picked up a second round exit. 

The Frenchman had two more tournaments left on his 2019 schedule as he had signed up to play at the Erste Bank Open 500 in Vienna and the Paris Masters. 

The French Davis Cup team has also taken a hit as they will be without Pouille at the inaugural edition of the Davis Cup Finals event. 

The Frenchman's focus now turns to getting his right elbow fully healed for the next season. 

"Disappointed to announce that my 2019 season is over. Following doctors orders regarding the situation of my right elbow, I’ll now focus on healing and then bouncing back stronger in 2020. See you guys soon, thanks for the support," former world No. 10 Pouille announced via his Twitter account. 

Five-time ATP champion Pouille hasn't won any ATP titles this year but he made his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open.
