Tim Henman: I think Murray will get back to winning tour events

Former British No.1 Tim Henman has backed Andy Murray to get back to winning tour tournaments, but thinks that five set matches will be a tough nut to crack for Murray.

“I think Murray will get back to winning tour events,” Henman said while speaking as part of Jaguar's official vehicle partnership with Wimbledon, which saw the Jaguar ambassadors lead a tennis masterclass for a group of Ace Pace competition winners.

He further added, “I think the physicality of the best of five set matches will be very difficult. But knowing him as I do with his work ethic and determination, if anybody can, it will be him.”

Though Murray’s rise back amongst the elite will be a gradual process, Henman feels Murray needs to alter his game style a bit if he wishes to reach the level he once used to play at.

“We’ve always talked about him being quite reactive rather than proactive,” Henman continued. “I think the more proactive he can be, making his opponent do the running has to be a good thing - that’ll be a challenge for him.”

Murray recently bowed out of the Shanghai Masters in Round 2 following a fiery match against Fabio Fognini that saw sparks fly between the two athletes. The Australian Open recently confirmed that Andy Murray would be featuring in the Singles draw of the first Grand Slam of the year.
