Former world No. 2 Tommy Haas has massively praised Roger Federer and has called the. record 20-time Grand Slam champion someone "very special" as he says it is amazing to see what the Swiss is currently doing at the age of 38.
Federer, who will turn 39 years of age at the beginning of August, has proved that, in spite of his age, he is still able to compete at the highest level and can contend for the biggest titles despite being past his prime.
In his lone tournament played of the 2020 season, the 38-year-old Swiss made the Australian Open semifinal before losing to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
However, it should be noted that Federer was hampered by a knee issue during the semifinal clash and a few weeks later he ended up undergoing an arthroscopic knee surgery to repair the issue.
"The reality is that he (Roger Federer) is someone very special. When you see him playing at his age and at this level, all you can say is 'wow,"' Tommy Haas said to Marca.
Rogeer Federer had a golden chance to collect his 21st Grand Slam title at last year's Wimbledon but he blew two consecutive championship points on his serve in the fifth set as world No. 1 Novak Djokovic won a thriller final.
Tommy Haas, who made his lone Wimbledon semifinal in 2009, also said Federer should have won the final and now have 21 Major titles in his already rich collection.
